Police On The Trail Of Kidnappers Who Killed Monarch In Kano

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Yakubu, has despatched a team of Operation Restore Peace (ORP) to nab unknown gunmen who stormed the residence of the Village Head of Maigari, Alhaji Dahiru Abbas (70) at the early hours of Sunday and killed him.

Maigari is in Rimin Gado Local Government Area, Kano State.

Police authorities described the gunmen as kidnappers who attempted to kidnap the Village Head, father of the chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government Area, but ended up taking his life by gunshots.

The AUTHORITY gathered that the kidnappers who stormed the serene community were heavily armed.

The incident caused panic as residents of Maigari ran helter-skelter as the sound of heavy gunshots rented the air at about 3:5 a. m Sunday.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Kano state Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident through a Statement released to Journalists Sunday evening.

According to him: “On 05/03/2023 at about 0305hrs, a report was received that suspected kidnappers stormed the residence of Alhaji Dahiru Abbas, ‘m’, 70 years old, Village Head of Maigari, Rimin Gado LGA.

“In an attempt to kidnap him, they shot him in the chest.

“He was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano where he died while receiving treatment.

“Efforts are intensified to arrest the perpetrators as Teams of Operation Restore Peace have swung into action.”
