The Minister, who was represented by the Permanent secretary Adesola Olusade, explained that the VIO was leveraging technology to make the process of registration of vehicles and motor licenses seamless and stress-free.

Bello, who described Abuja as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, said it is inevitable that Abuja will be impacted by some of the unwanted outcomes of the rapid growth.

He said: “The Directorate of Road Transport Services and other security agencies involved in traffic management should do more in curbing the activities of violators of traffic rules and regulations”.

In his remarks, the Director, FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services, Dr Abdullateef Bello, said the plan was introduced to reposition the directorate for quality service delivery to the residents of Abuja with respect to Motor Vehicle administration.

He disclosed that the e- vehicle registration portal will change multiple registration and broaden revenue generation base.

“It will reduce multiple registration of vehicles as this will further strengthen the integrity of the FCT database. Furthermore, unwholesome activities as well as touting and other human errors will be drastically reduced to the barest minimum”.
