Imo  gov: I will never take mandate for granted – Anyanwu

Having been consensually adopted as Imo State People’s Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate for the forthcoming Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC organized gubernatorial election in the State, scheduled for Saturday 11th November, 2023, Senator Samuel Anyanwu ( Samdaddy) says he will never take the mandate entrusted to him by his political party members for granted as the ticket is a product of intensed all inclusive consultations and compromise.

Anyanwu who’s the National Secretary of the party exclusively disclosed this to The Authority on Wednesday at the Party’s State Secretariat Okigwe Road, Owerri  shortly after Hon. Kenneth Okon, Chairman of Imo State PDP Governorship Electoral Committee announced him winner as the party’s governorship adopted affirmative consensus candidate having fulfilled all the constitutional requirements and processes.

The excited flag bearer assured the people that if given the mandate during the said election, that he will work for them and run an all inclusive governance.

According to him, “I started my journey into public service from the grassroots. I believe that Imo State needs a servant leader and not a ruler. I am that servant leader. I am accessible, decisive, and committed to the progress of our beloved State. I respect the need and I know the importance (value), of having technocrats leading, operating and driving the different sectors in our dear State, hence,we intend to assemble a team of top notch experts to navigate the different sectors of the operations of the State.

“My style of leadership is anchored in collaborative leadership, the implication is that no decision (s), would be taken about the people, without engaging them.

“This is my style of leadership in which I called” Sam Daddy Factor”. We shall not take decision affecting the people without considering the people’s input (s). It’s a leadership approach that calls for constant consultation, collaboration and cooperation” he assured.

Anyanwu pulled 802 ” yes” votes out of 915  total number of expected delegates, in which 853 were accredited and 21 votes were void while only 7 were No Votes and 23 delegates were absent.

He expressed worries over the age long sufferings of the people based on bad leadership, insensitiveness and insecurities, and vowed to make a positive change if given the general’s mandate.

Anyanwu appreciated Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, his strong contender, for his sportsmanship decision of stepping down from the race as well as members of the State Working Committee and other stakeholders for the critical roles they played in salvaging the political party against possible unparallel destabilization, insisting that their sacrifices for the labour of love, can never be forgotten.

The flag bearer  reassured that his manifesto will be developmental and human capacity building driven tailored towards achieving Imo State  dream of the new world order in which peace and securities will predominantly thrive.

He also pointed out that” I want to take Imo State beyond its past glories. I want us to join hands in securing Imo State  as a place where people come for enjoyments and investments.

“Imo State should be known for a robust manufacturing economy, international education destination, and a heaven for medical tourism. I want all hands on deck to secure an Imo State with a formidable infrastructural, digital and agricultural revolutions”.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Hon. Kenneth Okon commended the delegates, security agencies, INEC officials and party members for their peaceful comportment throughout the exercise.

Okon  further expressed satisfaction that the party candidate meet all the party’s and nation’s constitutional requirements as well as INEC electoral act guidelines.

Speaking also, Chief Charles Ugwu, the party state chairman  expressed satisfaction over the processes that endorsed the formalization of the party’s resolved consensus affirmative.

Ugwu described Samdaddy as a good product that market’s itself and assured of the willingness of the party in regaining power during the November election while insisting on issue based campaigns.

Adding his voice, Mr. Collins Opuruzo, the Publicity Secretary of Imo State PDP, told The AUTHORITY that the peaceful primary justified unity of purpose of the party’s stakeholders.

Opuruzo boosted that the party is ever willing to regain power for the incumbent APC government in the State.

He lamented that the populace are tired of insecurities and lack of infrastructural developments and transformations, insisting that PDP Government will restore sanity and confidence in governance.
