You Brought Peace To Kano Police Command, MD KAROTA Hails Retiring CP Mamman Dauda

The Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Hon. Baffa Babba Danagundi, has hailed the retiring Commissioner of Police in Kano state, Mr. Mamman Dauda for restoring peace among the ranks and files of Kano state police Command, recalling how he doused brewing tension in the Command on assumption of duty last year November.

Danagundi who represented Kano state government and Kano Citizens Forum, during a send-forth parley organised for Mamman Dauda who is retiring from the Nigeria Police Force after clocking 60 years, held at Officers’ Mess, on Tuesday, said posterity will not forget CP Mamman Dauda for the role he played in ensuring peace and unity of purpose among officers and men of Kano state Police Command.

According to him, such feat also ensured maintenance of peace and order in Kano for the six months Mamman Dauda stayed as the Commissioner of Police in the state.

According to him, “immediately you came in as the Commissioner of Police in Kano, peace returned to Kano State Police Command. We thank you for bringing peace to police formation in Kano.

“We also thank you for supporting KAROTA, because without the support of the police, the work of KAROTA will not be easy. I am retiring just the same time you are retiring—I am going out of government as Managing Director of KAROTA. We pray that those coming after us will build on the legacies.”

The KAROTA boss also donated the sum of N1 million to the retiring police boss, urging him to always keep in touch as they remain friends and brothers, even when out of service.

In his remarks, the Commanding Officer, the Police Mobile Force 9, Hotoro, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sbuabu Bello, described retiring CP Dauda as, “a man who is highly professional, highly principled, experienced, incorruptible.

” He is a man who believes in what God gives him, and not what man can give him. He is fearless, patriotic. When he came in, he cooperated with every stakeholder towards ensuring that Kano remain peaceful, and Kano remained peaceful even as he is retiring, even though he came towards the build up to the most important elections Nigeria has ever experienced.

“We call him (Professor) CP Mamman Dauda. We have tapped from his wealth of experience and his sterling qualities is what we are learning from. Even though he is retiring, we still need him.

“Whenever it is necessary, we will consult him. We will go and drag him to come and be with us. We will need him for lectures and more orientation.”

The DPO Normansland police station, Manir Madugu, who spoke on behalf of other DPOs in the state, said Kano state Police Command recorded remarkable achievements during the short tenure of CP Mamman Dauda.

He prayed that God will bless him more in his future endeavours.

Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ibrahim Abbas, said CP Mamman Dauda set the structure and ensured the success of the 2023 general elections in Kano state.

Mr. Mamman Dauda officially assumed duty as the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, early November, last year.

He was born on April 19, 1963, at Illela Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

After completing mandatory Primary and Secondary School Education, he attended the prestigious Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics.

He also obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Statistics, a Master of Science (MSc) in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Postgraduate Diploma in Nigerian Strategic Studies at the University of Maiduguri, a Diploma in Human Resources Management and a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP) on 18th May 1992 and trained at the famous Police Academy Annex Kaduna. He has served in different State Commands, Zonal Commands and Formations.

He held several positions, some of which include: Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in several Divisions in Kaduna, Nassarawa, Gombe and Anambra States Police Commands, Contingent Commander, Nigeria Formed Police Unit (FPU), Haiti, Chief Superintendent of Police Admin (CSP ‘A’) & Staff Officer Senior (SOS) at Police College Maiduguri, Officer in Charge of Mechanized Salary Section (MSS) at Gombe State Police Command.

Furthermore, he was Second in Charge (2I/C) Operations, Nassarawa State Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP X-Squad Zamfara State Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP X-Squad Katsina State Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Zamfara State Police Command.

ix. Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Zone 4, Zonal Command Makurdi.

Moreso, he was Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Zamfara State Police Command, Prior to his posting to Kano State Police Command, he was the Commissioner of Police, Director Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU), Police Staff College Jos.

He also attended many professional and leadership Courses, Seminars and Workshops both within and outside the Country, some of which include: Strategic Leadership and Command Course, Intermediate Command Course, Train the Trainers Courses, Advance Detective Course; at Police Staff College Jos.

He is happily married and blessed with children.
