Speakership: Reject leadership imposition – Rep tells Members-Elect

Members-elect have been called upon to take their destinies into their hands by ensuring that they elect the Speaker of their choice without interference of any sort. 

F former member of the House of Representatives  in the 8th Assembly, Hon Emeka Anohu gave the advice in a statement in Abuja.

He started that when a Speaker  emerges from amongst the members, it come with the  advantage of having a  smooth running of the Legislature with decisions taken in the best interest of the Nigerian people.

He further argued that the independence of the  legislature can only be guaranteed if the leadership is elected by popular choice of members.

 Hon Anohu also implored the incoming members of the 10th Assembly to be vigilant and cautious in electing their leadership and not be deceived by politics of deceit and propaganda.

He also pleaded with the powers that be to allow the yearning of the members to prevail when the National Assembly is inaugurated in June.
