….Says Monday sit at home is impoverishing South East economy.
From Maurice Okafor,Enugu.
The newly enthroned Methodist Bishop of Akegbe/Awgu/Aninri diocese,Rt Rv.John Chukwurotara Orji, has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to give order for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention before he vacates office in May 29,as president of Nigeria.
In his maiden state of the nation address hinged on alarming insecurity rate in Nigeria, delivered after his enthronement on Sunday,May 30,Bishop Orji tasked the federal govermment to create jobs for the teeming unemployed Youths across the country, stating those who are gainfully employed would not have time to engage in uneccesary demonstrations. He asserted that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from detention will help to curtail the tide of insecurity most especially in the South East zone.
“He stated,”The problem of insecurity in Nigeria is on the increase because the government abandoned our youths. Our youths are jobless and are becoming violent and engaging in crimes. If the government will provide them with jobs, they will not have time to engage in crimes. The gospel truth is the fact that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop’.
‘I sincerely want to plead with President Buhari to effect the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu before he vacates office as President of Nigeria. I have strong belief that his release will help to reduce the rate of insecurity in the South East x
zone of the country”.
“I am tired of the ‘every monday sit at home’,It is already affecting our economy.Let us see what we can do to stop impoverishing our lives by locking ourselves at home on every monday. It is not from God”.
He lamented that frustrations in the economy has compelled many Nigerian youths to loose faith in God,see the church as a scam and have initiated themselves into secret cults.
He prayed for Nigerian youths who have lost hope in the leadership of the country to return to God,assuring God in his infinite mercy cares and provides solution to every problem.
The Prelate,Methodist Church Nigeria,His Eminence,Dr Oliver Ali Aba,in his prayers called on God Almighty to intervene and rescue the nation from the devilish act of kidnappers. He wondered that the ugly trend subsized during the era of cashless policy ,but has resurfaced once again.
Earlier in the service, the Methodist Prelate,Dr Oliver Ali Aba, explained that the creation of Akegbe/Awgu/Aninri satisfied all the constitutional provisions since the request was made during the 13th synod of Agbani diocese held at All Saints Church,Ozalla,in 2019.
The enthronement service which was held at Trinity Cathedral Church,Akegbe Ugwu also featured the inductrination of Sir Humphrey Ozoemena as lay president of the newly created Akegbe/Awgu/Aninri diocese among others who will work with Bishop Orji for three years in rendering administrative services of the diocese.
