The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has thrown it’s weight behind the new law establishing Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA).
Mr. Nkereuwem Onung, president of the association with it’s members during a visit to the
Agency in Abuja on Friday asked for cooperation with the private sector in implementing the new law.
Earlier in his opening speech Onung stated that FTAN had on signing of the law set up a committee which reviewed the law noting the conflicts, cooperation, collaboration and partnership therein. On conviction that the benefits of the new law will ensure uniform Tourism Policy in the country which will far outweigh conflicts that may arise.
Meanwhile, the Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development
Authority, Folorunsho Coker in his welcome address stated that the Agency will be working with the
private sector on the “best from the law until we get a better one with the prevailing peace between government and private sector, the
association should focus on what suits it in the new law we can
only succeed in a spirit of coooperation.”
A communique was issued at the end of the meeting which states that FTAN and NTDA is to cooperate, collaborate and partner in forging the way forward for Tourism in Nigeria governed by the new law.
