Gov. Uzodinma applauded for hosting the NGE biennial elective convention

The Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, has been applauded for effectively hosting  this year’s National Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, which has further confirmed the hospitable nature of Imo people. 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on the Imo State Orientation Agency, Chief (Dr.) Fidel Onyeneke, gave the commendation in Owerri Saturday, while reacting to the successful hosting of the senior Journalists twice within one year. 

Chief Onyeneke observed that the choice of Imo  for the convention proved the conducive nature of the state’s environment for National and International events. 

He hailed the Governor for the unique interest he had shown towards the growth of the Journalism Profession. 

He recalled that the advent of Gov. Uzodinma’s annual Media Merit Award was a deliberate effort to encourage practicing media professionals in the state to excel in their professional duties. 

Chief Onyeneke thanked the Governor for being the first in the Country to institute such Media Award, even as he urged the Journalists to reciprocate the gesture through more responsible and developmental Media practices.

The communication expert who described the media as a veritable link between the Government and the masses, called for a more aggressive propagation of the activities of the government by the Media. According to him, the Media and the government should be strong partners in the efforts aimed at uplifting the living standard and welfare of the electorate. 

Chief Onyeneke appealed to the Journalists not to relent in educating and enlightening the people on the right attitudes and values that would further enhance peaceful co-existence in Imo State.

The Special Adviser stated that the Governor had embarked on many enviable projects especially in infrastructural development and Education sector, which touched positively on the lives of the populace.
