Killers of INEC Officer Must Be Apprehended: Ebonyi Govt

Ebonyi State Government on Wednesday, has threatened to apprehend all those responsible for the killing of an  INEC officer  in Ebonyi State, stating that the perpetrators will not go unpunished.

The  Commissioner for Information and State Orientation,Hon.Jude Okpor stated this on Wednesday  immediately after the  state Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held at New Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

The Commissioner while briefing newsmen about the outcome of the EXCO meeting, stated that the killers of an INEC officer in Ebonyi State,Mr.Sunday Igwe must be arrested to face the full wait of the law.

 Recall that the INEC officer  was killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen along Mpu (Enugu)-Ishiagu (Ebonyi) express way on June 18th 2023 and his wife who was traveling with him,was kidnapped.

“Security issues are not discussed in public but the government will do everything to apprehend the perpetrators of such dastardly act.

“The governor has given the necessary directives and soon, they would be apprehended.

“The governor recently had his first security council meeting with all heads of security agencies in attendance and the people are assured of their safety,” he said.

The Commissioner further stated that the governor is ever ready to revive education sector in the state and  restore the glory of public schools.

“He charged the two commissioners in charge of primary/ secondary and tetiary education, to ensure the functionality of the school system in the state.

“They were directed to ensure that public schools rank higher than the private ones, to make EXCO members and the public enrol their children in such schools.
