In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Imo State Grasshoppers International Handball Club has been making waves in the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League, as the only state handball club in the entire South East region playing in the prestigious league.
Certainly, it’s a thing of joy watching how the team have been showcasing their prowess on the court and earning recognition across the country and even beyond.
The journey for Grasshoppers Int’l Handball Club of Imo State began when they left for Benin City, Edo State, to join 22 other clubs for the first phase of the premier league. Since then, they have played Six matches, giving their all and working hard to climb higher on the league table. Their performances have been commendable, leaving fans and spectators in awe of their talent and dedication.
One of the key factors behind Imo State Grasshoppers’ success is the investment in sports development beyond football by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
It’s important to inform that Governor Uzodimma is passionate in recognizing the importance of promoting a diverse range of sports, as demonstrated by his provision of substantial support to the handball club and other sports initiatives in the State.

It’s a gospel truth that the Commissioner’s efforts, in collaboration with Governor Uzodimma’s vision, have propelled Imo State Grasshoppers to new heights in the handball premier league.
