Senate constitutes  Special C’ttees,

…. Names Olamilekan as Appropriation Chairman,  Adaramodu to Head Media

…. Soon to confirm service chiefs

As the nation awaits the release of  list of ministerial nominees by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Senate on Tuesday constituted special committees to drive the activities of the 10th Senate.

Making the declaration at Tuesday plenary, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio  announced the composition of eight Special Committees to kick start the smooth working of the red chamber

One of the Committees constituted is Selection Committee which has the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio as the chairman while the Deputy Senate President Jubrin Barau as the Vice Chairman.

Another Committee as announced by the Senate President is  Committee on Rules and Business , Senator Titus Zam while Senator Opeyemi Bamidele to serve as his vice.

Also announced is the Committee on Senate Service to be headed by Senator Sunday Steve  Karimi while Senator William Jonah will serve as his vice

Committee on Public Account is to be headed by Senator Aliu Wadada from Nasarawa state and Onyeka Peter, vice chairman.

The Committee on National Security and Intelligent is to be headed by  Senator Sheu  Buba Umar

Media on Committee will also be chaired by Senator Yemi Adaramodu while Senator Salisu Shuaibu Afolabi, will serve as his Vice Chairman. 

Other committee is Ethics, Privileges &Public Petition has Okey Ezea as chairman and Ibrahim Khalid  as vice chairman.

Legislative Compliance Committee has Buba Umar chairman, Asuquo Ekpeyong vice chairman

Committee on National Security and Intelligence has Senator  Shehu Buba Umar as chairman while Senator  Asuquo Ekpenyong  would serve as his deputy.

Meanwhile, the Senate  has signified interest to commence confirmation hearing of the newly appointed Service Chiefs. 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a letter to the Senate President which was read ion the floor of the red chamber  on Tuesday requested for the confirmation of the new Service Chiefs.

President Tinubu in the letter explained that the worsened security in the country necessitated a review of the nation’s security architecture.

it would be recalled that last month the presidency named the new Service Chiefs which includes the following: Maj Gen C G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj Gen T A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admirral E A Ogalla Chief of Naval Staff and AVM H B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.
