Over 750 staff of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu, have been enrolled on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) of the federal government.
The exercise which commenced on Thursday 13th July, 2023 and lasted for three days was expected to capture a total of 756 employees who will receive salaries through the IPPIS platform.
Welcoming the team to the hospital, ahead of the capturing, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Uzoma Agwu recalled several efforts by the hospital management to secure clearance on enrollment on the scheme since January, 2023 and described their visit as a dream come true.
Professor Agwu noted that the uploading of staff of the hospital into the federal government employee database was historic and has validated DUFUTH as a complete federal institution.
She promised that the hospital will cooperate fully with the team by providing enabling environment for the successful conduct of the exercise according to IPPIS timetable, and by giving them a memorable experience while in the state.
She further assured that DUFUTH was poised to deliver on its mandate of breaking the jinx of medical tourism and ensuring top-class health services in line with the vision of the founder, Engineer David Umahi.
Earlier, the team leader, Mr Barry Ukaoha expressed convinction that the Management will accord necessary support and cooperation to officers delegated for the exercise.
He stated that the exercise was in fulfilment of one of the cardinal principles of the introduction of IPPIS programme, which is blocking loopholes and discouraging corruption in the administration of personnel records.
In a vote of thanks the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee of DUFUTH, Dr Felix Ehidiamhen described the event as an incontrovertible evidence of the CMD’S hardwork, and posited that her energy, passion and ideas helped shape the success story of the IPPIS visit.
The verification and biometric data capture exercise which was personally supervised and coordinated by the CMD featured authentication of documents of individual employees of the hospital who presented themselves for physical screening, and scanning of their documents into the system.
This was to ensure that all discrepancies were resolved to ensure that what was finally uploaded on the IPPIS platform had a high level of data integrity.
Meanwhile, the team on their arrival on Wednesday night were hosted to a cocktail by the Management of DUFUTH to soften ground for the exercise.
