Automobile firm to train 1000 Nigerians on gas powered vehicles technology

Autolady Engineering Technology Limited, an indigenous firm, is taking proactive steps to address the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria.

The CEO Joyce Daser-Adams in a press release said the company has initiated a significant training program aimed at equipping 1,000 Nigerian technicians and non-technicians with the necessary skills to convert petrol vehicles to gas-powered engines.

This initiative also includes training in vehicle maintenance to ensure a smooth transition to the more affordable Compressed Natural Gas option amidst escalating fuel costs.

The training sessions will be conducted nationwide, with the first one-week intensive program scheduled to begin in Lagos. Both experienced and inexperienced technicians will participate in this comprehensive training, which involves workshop attachments for professional proficiency and certifications. By providing technicians with the required technical expertise in safe autogas conversion, Joyce Daser-Adams and Autolady Engineering aim to facilitate the adoption of gas-powered cars as a means of reducing carbon emissions, in line with the federal government’s 2060 net-zero carbon reduction agenda. The firm believes that by 2030, widespread use of gas-powered vehicles will significantly contribute to mitigating the impact of climate change while supporting the objectives of the National Gas Expansion Programme.

In 2021, Autolady Engineering, in collaboration with various technical partners, trained over 150 technicians in autogas conversion. Under the leadership of CEO Joyce Daser-Adams, the firm also converted vehicles for several prominent organizations, including the Nigerian Police Force, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), free of charge. Now, the firm has opened its registration portal for auto mechanics and automobile technicians across Nigeria who are interested in participating in the training, which is set to commence in September.

Recognizing the issue of the high cost of converting petrol/diesel vehicles to Autogas vehicles since the launch of the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP), Joyce Daser-Adams and Autolady Engineering appeal to the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to collaborate and support their initiative. Such support will aid in reducing the cost of training technicians and acquiring conversion kits, making it more accessible to the average Nigerians.

With a strong track record of training technicians in auto mechanics, Autolady Engineering, under the leadership of CEO Joyce Daser-Adams, has the capacity to extend training opportunities across the country. The firm is also open to partnering with state governments to create employment opportunities for youths and boost the economy amidst the challenges of rising fuel costs. By fostering skilled technicians and promoting the adoption of gas-powered vehicles, the firm is actively contributing to a sustainable and environmentally conscious future for Nigeria.
