First Lady on thank-you visit to ex-President Buhari in Katsina

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina Sate. 

Mrs. Tinubu who was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Vice-President Hajia Nana Shettima said the visit was to check on the former president and thank him for the fatherly support he gives always. 

She prayed for long life, good health and more support from him, not only for the administration of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but Nigeria as a whole. 

In his brief remarks after the visit, the former president expressed his appreciation, noting that the visit which was to see how he is settling down to life after public office was remarkable. 

“As you can all see, she came to check up on me and see that I am doing okay”, he said, according to a press statement issued after the visit by Busola Kukoyi media adviser to the First Lady.

Others who were there with the First Lady were the wife of the Katsina State Governor, Hajia Dikko Radda, and the wife of the Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Hajia Nasir Daura, among other APC women chieftains in the State.

Subsidy: Nasarawa workers call for massive intervention programmes

Workers in Nasarawa State under organized labour unions who joined the nationwide protests on Wednesday, have called on the federal government to immediately roll out massive intervention programmes to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the masses.

They complained that their entire salaries are spent on transportation from their homes to their offices only.

The workers spoke through the State chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ismaila Oko, who urged the federal government to reconsider its decision in view of the hardship faced by workers and the masses due to the fuel subsidy removal.

Chairman of the state NLC in the state, Comrade Oko, lamented that workers can no longer feed their families or live up to other responsibilities as well as pay for their children’s school fees.

Also speaking, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) State Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Doma, urged the federal government to urgently come up with measures to reduce the price of petroleum products.

He also lamented that workers’ salaries cannot take care of their transport fares  to work, adding that they are suffering.

Rep Ezechi urges Defence Chief, IGP to secure release of abducted constituent

The Member of House of Representatives for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency of Delta State, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, has urged the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen  Christopher Musa and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure the immediate release of an Ndokwa woman abducted in the northern part of the country.

Hon Ezechi, in a letter addressed to the two security chiefs, commended them for their commitment to securing the lives and property of citizens of the country.

He however, added that they needed to do more to effectively deal with the increasing spate of kidnapping and banditry in parts of the country.

The lawmaker said the unwholesome activities of bandits and kidnappers had become worrisome over the years and had portrayed the country in bad light in the comity of nations.

He said the nation’s economy had been greatly affected due to the relocation of local and foreign investors to neighboring countries over insecurity.

The federal lawmaker noted a video clip of the said kidnapped victim had gone viral, and described the release of the video as despicable, barbaric, dehumanizing and embarrassing.

Hon Ezechi promised, in his capacity as a Member of the House of Representatives, to collaborate with the security agencies in the fight against insecurity to make the country safe and habitable for the people, especially in his Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
