The former chairman of Police Service Commission (PSC) Chief Simon Okeke has charged the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) handling the issues that emanated from the 2023 general elections to ensure quick dispensation of justice.
Chief Okeke (Ochendo Amichi) made this appeal during an interactive session with journalists in his Akatar Lodge, Amichi in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.
He said as a matter of fact that staying too long on the matter could amount to delay which he said is very dangerous.
Ochendo said that everyone is aware of the truth and that the longer the judgment lingers, the thicker the speculations and suspicions of miscarriage of justice.
“All eyes are on the judges and all ears are waiting to hear the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal. The judges must ensure fairness and justice or else they will have to live with what the Bible says in Isiah chapter 5 vrs 23. I must say also that anything short of fairness and justice would mean good night to anything good in Nigeria.” Ochendo Amichi insisted.
He commended the youths for staying calm while waiting for the verdict of the presidential election petition tribunal but added that the patience of the youths should not be taken for granted.
Chief Okeke while commenting on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial appointment said that the South East was not faily treated.
He wondered why only five persons would be given ministerial appointment in South East while North West has a whooping ten slots.
The former police boss stress the need for all the zones to be treated as equal with equal opportunities and privileges.
Ochendo Amichi while commenting on the performance of the incumbent chairman of PSC, IGP Solomon Arase(Rtd) said that the new kid on the block is taking the commission to a greater height.
He particularly commended the IGP Arase(Rtd) for moving the commission to her permanent site.
