APC convention: Gov Ododo felicitates APC chairman, NWC members

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended congratulations to the newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, along with other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) following their emergence at the party’s National Convention held in Abuja.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor described the convention as a defining moment for the ruling party, underscoring its cohesion, resilience, and commitment to democratic values.

“The emergence of the new leadership through a peaceful and consensus-driven process brings to the fore the maturity and resilience of our great party and its readiness to consolidate on past achievements.”

Governor Ododo applauded party leaders and stakeholders for delivering what he called a seamless and conflict-free exercise. He noted that the emergence of new officials into strategic roles signals a collective resolve to deepen internal democracy, unify party interests, and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that his administration has strengthened the party’s appeal among Nigerians, many of whom are aligning with the government’s policies and achievements across key sectors.

According to him, the current administration has made significant strides in economic reforms, infrastructure development, fiscal restructuring, and efforts to enhance national and food security through inclusive policies.

Governor Ododo described the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange system as “courageous but necessary reforms” that are beginning to reposition the country’s economy for long-term stability.

He further commended ongoing investments infrastructure and interventions in education and social investment programmes, noting that they are laying a foundation for inclusive growth despite initial economic challenges.

“I rate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance highly for the courage, vision and the determination to take difficult but transformative decisions in the interest of Nigeria,” the Governor stated.

The governor also credited the president with maintaining cohesion within the APC through strong and stabilizing leadership across all levels of the party.

He urged the newly elected officials to live up to expectations by fostering inclusiveness, transparency, and dedication in serving both the party and the nation.

Governor Ododo concluded by offering prayers for wisdom, strength, and a successful tenure for the NWC members as they take on the responsibility of leading the party forward, while reaffirming his commitment to collaborating with party leadership to achieve the shared goals of Nigerians.
