Make out time for your health,  Akpabio advises journalists

Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio has advised journalists to always make out time for their health, while performing their duties.

The senate president who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, gave the advice to the journalists at at the senate yesterday, when he paid condolence visit to the Senate Press Corps over their deceased colleague, Tijani Adeyemi who died last week. 

Tijani, a reporter from the Tribune Newspaper attached to the Senate was reported to have collapsed while going home after a day’s work last week.

Admitting that journalism profession with its pracrice is very tasking, he reiterated the need for journalists to be going for medical test regularly. This, he said would go a long way to help them prevent the unexpected in the society. 

He however suggested that members of the press corps be organising group birthdays monthly.  

He said: “We visited the family of Tijani  that died last and the death was a sudden one. We are sincerely sorry for  that and pray that God be with those left to mourn him. 

“You shouldn’t neglect your health for news – making. While you are doing your lawful duties, don’t forget your health. In order not to be taken by death suddenly, it is advisable to be going for medical check up regularly.

We suggest celebrating group monthly birthdays, for members’ ages to be known. Respond to your health regularly,” The Senate President said.
