The original indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) known as FCT Natives have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike on the recent creation of FCT Civil Service Commission and Secretariat for Women Affairs.
This was hinted at a press conference organised by the FCT indigenous people, chaired by Dr. Lazarus Zaka Gaza, who was the first elected member of House of Representative in the aborted Third Republic, for Amac / Bwari Federal Constituency.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, Dr. Gaza who has served in various capacity in the civil service, hailed the President and the FCT Minister for the establishment of FCT Civil Service Commission, Women Affairs Secretariat and removing the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account TSA.
According to him, in few months from now FCT will wear a new look because there will be new projects, and FCT indigenes are very pleased and fully in support of the President and the Minister for their thoughtfulness and swift actions to see to the growth of Abuja and the welfare of civil servants.
Dr. Gaza noted that with this development, FCT will have Permanent Secretaries in the Secretariats and a Head of Service. Again the interest placed on the women, especially the approval of the creation of a secretariat for women just like the Ministry of Women Affairs in the states is renewing the hope of the natives and the FCT residents as well.
Gaza said, ” Tinubu is a consummate democrat and the leader of progressives, I know he would not leave the FCT Natives behind. I commend the President for the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission to allow staff career progression and Treasury Single Account TSA, will pave way for the Minister to utilize the FCT Internally Generated Revenue IGR for the development of the nation’s capital which will be a huge milestone.
“I also commend the Minister for tackling insecurity problems in the FCT. Recently, he directed the six area council chairmen to constitute surveillance teams in their respective domains. He said the surveillance team would help in checking activities of illegal mining in communities, which create avenues for insecurity. The Police and the Civil Defence Corps, are also working effectively in tackling insecurity in the FCT.
” Wike has promised that Abuja will be back to what it ought to be. He talked about ensuring light in the streets of Abuja and good sanitation, prohibiting street trading like people selling corn that drop their waste indiscriminately which often times attracts insecurity as criminals come to buy and use the opportunity to spy and give information to criminals.
“On infrastructural development, such as the completion of road networks in the city, among numerous projects. Wike promised to work closely with the six area council chairmen to develop their areas for the good of residents.
Dr. Gaza, a PhD holder in Geography, and former Director, Human Resource Management, Federal Capital Territory Administration congratulates the Minister on the astronomical increase in Internal Revenue Generation and Infrastructural development such as completion of road networks in the city among numerous projects.
