Gwagwalada chairman begins upgrade of Zuba markets

The Chairman Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Giri has began the upgrading of Zuba market onthe outskirt of the FCT.

He said the remodeling was part of measures put in place by the current leadership of the council to manage public facilities for good of the residents.

The chairman also announced that the market has been changed to a weekly market.

Giri disclosed this during the flag off ceremony of renovation  of the market which is in collaboration with  Lion property Consult under a public private partnership. 

The Zuba main market was built the same time with the present popular Wuse Market in Abuja Metropolitan area during the military administration of President Ibrahim Babangida.

Giri who was represented by his Chief Of Staff, Alhaji Muhammad Kasimu, said the market renovation is aimed at proper managing of public facilities like markets, parks and recreational centres. 

He explained that they will keep to the  responsibility of the third tier of government as it concerns people and development. 

The developer and Chief Executive Officer,  Lion Property Consult, Mazi Agu said with the current development, the market is rising up to greater heights in managing public property. 

Onwu Arua who is the President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo in FCT, John Peter Chairman of Zuba Main Market and Mrs Agatha Ebere Nwankwo, women leader of Zuba Main Market spoke on the import of the development. 

Highlights of the occasion was the official handing over of the Market to Lion Property Consult by the representative of the Chairman and representative of the Agora of Zuba and foundation laying ceremony of the works.
