I don’t feel threatened by anybody – Wike

By Daniel Tyokua

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Nyesom Wike on Tuesday said he don’t feel threatened by anyone but owes everything to President Bola Tinubu who appointed him.

He said the recent comment in the media credited to people will not make him lost focus.

Wike stated this when he played host to Leaders of Ethnic Nationalities from Niger Delta region who paid a solidarity visit to him in Abuja.

Wike noted that he has resolved to remain firm and undistracted, considering the enormity of the responsibility given him by the President.

The Minister called on the leaders to support the President, as the task of developing Nigeria and building a virile economy, transcends political affiliations.

“I have not lost focus, and I will not lose focus. I want to remain focused to do my work. What is important to me is to support Mr. President to achieve his eight point agenda on Renewed Hope. So, in the course of this work, people may not be happy.

“So, you do not expect that everybody will be happy. And when you come to look at it, when historical appointment rotates, you should not be bothered that people will not react. So, I will assure you that, I don’t even think about it, I don’t even know who even made the statement.

“As long as Mr. President is happy with what I am doing, that’s all. Because he is my appointer, and I owe him everything. And I urge you to continue to support Mr. President, so that at the end of the day, all of us will be happy. I don’t feel threatened by anybody”

In his speech, the former Presidential Amnesty Programme Coordinator, Kingsley Kuku, who read the speech of the group, warned all politicians to know that any attack on Wike will be considered as an affront to the collective interest of the region.

“Wike is not a political orphan from the Niger Delta, he has a strong socio-political base. So we take very serious exception to the call for the Minister’s sack and to the blackmail on the President with denial of electoral/political support in far away 2027 should the President fail to do his bidding.

“To say the least, Gummi’s abrogation of exclusive ownership and monopoly of administration of Abuja by a given ethno-religious region in Nigeria is not only disgusting, senseless but also puerile, hubristic, irresponsible and divisive”
