Group hails confirmation of Egbetokun as IGP

From Isaac Ojo, Awka

A transport group, Heavy Duty and Haulage Transport Association of Nigeria has hailed the confirmation of Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP) by National Police Council describing the confirmation as putting the cap on the head that suits it.

The transport group in a statement signed by its National Chairman Chief Emmanuel Osigbemeh and the Deputy National Chairman Alhaji Muritala Mohamed alias ten ten with other National and State Executives noted that Egbetokun as Acting IGP has performanced well in crime fighting mostly in safeguarding highways.

Part of the statement reads “we wish to use this medium to make it loud and clear that we are okay with the confirmation of Egbetokun as substantive IGP because he has done wonderfully well in Acting capacity, so we commend National Police Council for deeming it right enough to confirm him”

The group vowed to creditably assist the police in fishing out criminal elements among transporters such as those who use heavy duty and haulage vehicles to smuggle contraband goods and hard drugs as well as thieves who masquerade as drivers to divert goods belonging to companies and businessmen and sell such goods to make money

“It’s on record that we have a taskforce team saddled with the responsibility of protecting our group members against smugglers and thieves from using heavy duty and haulage vehicles to smuggle contraband goods and hard drugs or diverting goods and we want to reassure the Police that we will continue to assist the police in fishing out such criminals” the group added.
