Imo: You are punishing your own people, NLC President told

From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Chief Johnpaul Ochemba has accused Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC of punishing Imo State residents by his Leadership’s recent sanctions against the State and appealed to him to rescind the punitive sanctions as an indigene of the State.

Ochemba, a business man from Ntueke,  Ideato South LGA of Imo State, with so much business interests in the State expressed worried while interacting with news men in Owerri on the last Tuesday  decisions of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) aimed at  collapsing socioeconomic activities in Imo State.

Ochemba recalled that Ajaero as an illustrious son of Imo State, all sons and daughters of the State were happy when his colleagues elected him as the  National President of the NLC and equally congratulated him.

According to the Ambassador of Peace, “yes, it’s true Ajaero may have had an imbroglio with the State Government, but equity and natural justice demands that he should not be a party to the destruction of his own people by using his position to unleash draconian sanctions against his people.

“The decision for continual subjugation of Imo people into darkness is not in the overall interest of the masses, nor the State that is struggling to revamp from the shackles of insecurities.

“Secondly, imposing total ban on passengers using  Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, to me is an inhuman against your people and the State.

“Thirdly, the decision not to allow subsequent discharge of petroleum products in Imo State, is unleashing hardship and abysmal economic exploitation on the masses” he lamented.
