Minister urges Corps Members to be diligent to camp activities

The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has urged Corps Members to be diligent to all camp activities by submitting themselves to the regimented nature and discipline which will be of benefit to them.

Dr. Mahmoud made this known during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream ll Orientation course held on Tuesday at the NYSC FCT Orientation camp in Kubwa Abuja.

She said, ” to remain compliant with the camp rules and regulations. You must distance yourselves from social vices such as cultism and drug abuse. You are advised to be security conscious at all times, as I assure you that your security is also top priority of the government as several security agencies have been deployed to the camp to ensure the security of your lives and property”.

According to the Minister represented by the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat and Chairman, NYSC-FCT Governing Board,  Hon. Ibrahim Aminu she noted that the FCTA is determined to give the NYSC maximum support in recognition of the scheme’s role as an active partner in the development of the Federal Capital Territory. 

Earlier,  the NYSC-FCT Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Ngozi Shokpeka, advised corps members to comport themselves in worthy character as any form of negative behaviour such as drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices will not be tolerated on camp and throughout their service year. 

Mrs. Shokpeka said, “At the close of registration on Monday 27th November, 2023, I wish to report that a total number of 3826 corps members have been duly registered for this orientation course comprising of 1528 males and 2298 females. 

“I therefore, urge you to key into the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme and avail yourself of this rare opportunity aimed at transforming you into self-reliant entrepreneurs.
