House of Reps assures to enhance trade facilitation and economic growth

The House of Representatives Committee on Customs and Excise has assured to work tirelessly to enhance trade facilitation policies, organised Custom’s procedure as well as to foster a conducive environment for economic growth and development.

Chairman of the Committee,Hon Leke Abejide gave the assurance at the Committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja.

The Chairman who said that Nigeria Customs Service plays a vital role of ensuring the safeguard of the Country borders as well as generate substantial revenue for the Country,noted that the over 63 year old Customs Act repealed by the House of Representatives represents a significant mile stone in the effort to streamline Customs procedures, enhance trade,improve revenue generation amongst other things.

On his part, the Chairman House Committee on Navy, Hon Yusuf Gagdi said his committee will come up with legislations that will support the Nigerian Navy in achieving its constitutional mandate which is not only to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial waters but also to enhance internal security.

In a related development,the Chairman House Committee on Interior,Hon Ahmed Abdullahi, has said his committee will focus on addressing internal security challenges through oversight responsibilities as well as legislation that would emphasize on development technologies,hardware to ensure value for allocated resources to MDAs amongst others.
