In an effort to ensure hitched-free Christmas and New year celebrations, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed human and material resources across the nooks and crannies of the capital city.
The deployment, according to a statement by the Command Spokesperson, SP Josephine Edeh, is characterized by visibility policing at various places of worship and event centres, and raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings/shanties, stop and search, vehicular/foot patrol and inter-agency cooperation.
The deployment, the statement said, is aimed at ensuring that the residents of the FCT are well-secured and enjoy a hitch-free festivity before, during and after the Christmas celebration.
In the statement, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna G. Garba, in anticipation of the festivity, felicitated with the Christian faithfuls of the Territory and equally enjoined the residents to dissuade from using knockouts, fireworks/firecrackers which may cause panic or apprehension in the general public, while reiterating his commitment to ensure the safety of all.
