New Cabinet: Uzodimma’s kinsmen mounts pressure over juicy positions

By Everest Ezihe, Owerri

There are indications that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State appears to be under pressure to consider and accommodate new faces in his yet-to-be-reconstituted cabinet.

This is worrisome even as his kinsmen under the umbrella of Oru Nation is seriously demanding for sensitive positions in the cabinet.

Recalled that the Governor had in January 16th 2024 dissolved his Exco in preparation for his second tenure.
However, while the governor is yet to constitute the new Cabinet, it was gathered by The AUTHORITY in Owerri that the governor’s kinsmen have held meetings resolving on the need for their brother to appoint his kinsmen in strategic political positions.

The positions they are eyeing include the office of the Chief of Staff, Ministry of Land, amongst others.

The kinsmen were reportedly said to have bluntly told the governor that his first tenure administration was used by him to compensate his friends, political allays and well wishers pointing out that the chunk of the new cabinet has to go to Oru nation comprising Oru-East and Oru-West Local Government Areas, which according to them, were marginalized and caged out of the just concluded administration.
