PDP Governors donate N100m to Plateau attack victims

* Renew call for state police

Governors on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday commiserated with governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State over the recent deteriorating security situation in the State.

The PDP governors also reiterated calls for the establishment of State Police, saying it will help stem the tide of the recurring security challenges bedeviling the country.

The Forum donated N100 million to help cater for the victims of the recent security breach and attack in some communities of the State, which claimed scores of lives, destroyed properties and means of livelihood of residents.

Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Muhammed, led a delagation of the forum to pay Gov. Mutfwang a solidarity at  the Government House Rayfield, Jos.

He said: “We commiserate with you and the people of Plateau State and also extend our heartfelt condolences over the recent unfortunate incidents that claimed many lives and properties.

“We are saddened by this happenings, and we are praying that these incidents will be checkmated.

“We have the confidence in Governor Mutfwang’s ability to address the security challenges with wisdom and courage.”

He encouraged the governor to be strong, assuring him that they are with him in the travails, saying that “we want to urge the Federal Government to reconsider the establishment of state police as a crucial step to address the prevailing security challenges across the country.”

Responding, Governor  Mutfwang appreciated the governors for their show of love and concern to the State during its moment of grieve.

He said, “insecurity in Nigeria has become a national challenge that should be dealt with collectively.

“We must do our best to rebuild trust and hope among our people; criminality should not be treated with levity”, he admonished.

Mutfwang noted that the entire state is deeply grateful for the solidarity shown by the PDP Governors.  

“Your presence has encouraged us as a people, we will ever remain grateful”, he maintained.

Other Governors present include, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ahmadu Frintiri of Adamawa; Peter Mbah of Enugu, Godwin Obaseki of Edo and Sen. Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
