The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa has charged troops of Nigerian Army 6 Division to sustain the fight against oil thieves.
The CDS gave the charge during his routine operational visit to the Niger Delta Region (NDR), at Headquarters, 6 Division.
CDS stressed the need for continued action, saying that the Armed Forces of Nigeria under his leadership will ensure national security and enhance oil production, in line with directives from the President and Commander-in-Chief.
General Musa urged the troops to uphold respect for the local traditions, culture, and religion while carrying out their duties.
While acknowledging the exceptional work being done by the troops in the NDR, he cautioned against any form of complacency, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards such attitudes.
Earlier, the GOC and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Major General Jamal Abdussalam informed the CDS that officers and soldiers of the Division were committed to safeguarding critical national infrastructure for the benefit of the nation.
He further assured that troops of the Division would continue to carry out their statutory responsibilities in the most professional manner in line with the mandate of OPDS in the NDR.
General Musa, on arrival, commissioned the newly reconstructed main entrance to Port Harcourt Barracks and the newly built officers’ transit accomodation at the officers’ quarters.
