Reps hold a valedictory session for late ex Speaker Ghali Na’abba

At an emotion-laden valedictory plenary session held at the lower chamber, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Tajudeen Abbas described the late Speaker of the House, Hon Ghali Na’abba as leader of a formidable team that contributed immensely to the development of the green chamber in particular and Nigeria in general

Hon Abbas said the late Speaker’s tenure was marked by efforts to ensure the independence of the legislature, recognizing that a truly democratic society thrives when its legislative arm operates without undue influence, freely articulating the will and aspirations of the people.

He also said,the deceased worked diligently with his colleagues to ensure the National Assembly budget was put on first-line charge and also formalised the legislative aides’ system the House operates today, which continues to boost the capacity of legislators for enhanced performance.

In their respective goodwill messages, former speakers 5th House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, former lawmaker Adamawa state,Binta Garuba, Minority Leader of the House, deputy speaker, Hon Benjamin Kalu, Hon Julius Ihonvbere, described the late Na’abba as a passionate, consistent and disciplined democrat who contributed his quota to the development of the state and Nigeria.
