NYSC members’ welfare remains our priority- FCT Minister

The Minster of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Mariya Mahmoud, has said welfare of National Youth Service Corps deployed to the territory remain a priority to the government.

She said during and after the orientation course, corp members safety will be well protected.

Mahmoud made this known during the opening/swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation course at the NYSC camp, Kubwa in Abuja.

She said, “we shall endeavour to ensure that you undergo your orientation course in safety, and that your welfare is taken care of within the availability of resources at our disposal. Your security is of utmost priority to us as the FCT Administration has deployed several security agencies to the camp to ensure that your lives and properties are adequately secured.”

Represented by the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu, the minister stated that in FCT, the teeming youths, women and the indigent are in dare need of support which will help them develop their various talents for productive creativity.

Similarly, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka advised the Corps members to comport themselves in a disciplined and orderly manner, as any form of negative behaviour such as drug abuse and other anti-social acts will not be tolerated on camp and all through the service year.

She said,” The regimented nature of the orientation programme is designed to install discipline, physical fitness and strong leadership trails as well as entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.”
