Insecurity: Ihiala indigenes, residents urged to be vigilant

From Ifeoma Ejiofor Nnewi

Following a successful clearance operation by the military at Orsuihiteukwa in Orsu L.G.A of Imo State, the people of Ihiala have been urged to be extra vigilant.

The second-in-command of Ihiala Local Government Area Strike Force, Chief AK Ilobi, dropped the warning on Sunday.

He said that criminal elements parading themselves as Eastern Security Network (ESN) may be plotting a new hideout to perpetrate their nefarious activities.

“In view of this, we will not offer them Ihiala Council Area as a new haven. Never! Ihiala people need to enjoy pristine peace, uninterrupted commercial activities and free ease of movement across the entire communities.

“We cannot afford to compromise the considerable peace we have laboured hard to get in Ihiala by allowing criminals to enter our land.

“As such, if you discover any suspicious activity around your home and neighborhood, please report to the nearest security agency. Your identity will be safeguarded to the fullest.

“I reiterate: we cannot afford to throw away the hard-fought peace and tranquility in Ihiala Council Area.

“I implore every well-meaning individual to report any unscrupulous person or group of persons noticed around your area to the local vigilante group, or the police, or the nearest army post. Emergency number is:09076705560,” he said.
