Finally: Tinubu names his ministers

*Wike, Umahi, el-Rufai make list

President Bola Tinubu has presented a list of 28 ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

It is the first batch of the nominees as no less than 36 ministers are expected to be appointed by the President according to the Constitution.

The list was delivered to the Senate leadership on Thursday by Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The list includes former Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Nadir el-Rufai (Kaduna); Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); and Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa); former Minister of State for Health, Ali Pate, as well as former Senators,  among others.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, subsequent of read out the list as follows:

3. Ahmed Dangiwa

4. Hannatu Musawa 

5. Uche Nnaji

6. Betta Edu

7. Dorris Aniche Uzoka 

8. David Umahi 

9. Nyesom Wike 

10. Badaru Abubakar

11. Nasiru Ahmed Elrufai 

12. Ekperipe Ekpo

13. Nkiruka Onyejeocha

14. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo

15. Stella Okotete

16. Oju Kennedy Ohaneye

17. Bello Muhammad Goronyo

18. Dele Alake

19. Lateef Fagbemi

20. Muhammad Idris

21. Olawale Edun

22. Waheed Adebayo Adelabu

23. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim

The President is expected to send more names as ministers.

Constitutionally, he is expected to name at least one minister from each of the 36 states of the federation.
