The village head of Idu, Chief Mohammed Bawa Makama and his Karmo counterpart, Chief Umar Garni Sarkin Karmo, all in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have appealed to Nyesom Wike-led Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to urgently drive away land grabbers from their communities.
The chiefs made the appeal in their 2024 Eid Fitri message to the Minister.
While hailing the minister for performance so far and calling for right security in the FCT communities, Makama complained seriously how land grabbers have been denying them farm land, not to talk of the ones where their grown up children would build residential houses.
The village head sited example of a vast area of land in Idu Industrial Area somebody who said he was from the presidency had attempted to forcefully take away from them, but thanked God that it didn’t work out like it has been working out for them initially, explaining that when he went to AGIS, there was no allocation like that.
Thanking God for peaceful first Eid El Fitri celebration in the president regime, he called his subjects to remain law abiding, and assured them that the minister would do something about the problems, even as he appealed for continued peaceful coexistence in his domain.
Similarly, his counterpart of Karmo Sabo, decried forceful grabbing not their farm and residential lands by land grabbers, even as he prayed for good health for those in authority, saying that with good health and prayer to God, they would have wisdom to go about leadership.
The village head further sited demolition of residential houses beside and behind Karmo market. This he accused land grabbers of doing and condemned the act in its entirety.
However, the district head of Idu, also in an interview during the feast also commended those in authority for performance and appealed that they use their food office to provide enough security to fight the menace being caused by insecurity in the country, even as he prayed for them, as well as for those within his domain.
