Barely a week after Bini district in Maru Local government area of Zamfara state was sacked by bandits, no fewer than two people have been reportedly killed and over 50 abducted at the weekend in Maradun town, the head quarters of Maradun Local Government of the state.

Also during the attack, a large number of domestic animals were rustled by the invading bandits during their operation at about 2:am Friday.

Eye witness account told our correspondent that the bandits, who were in their hundreds on motorcycles were carrying different dangerous weapons, including AK 47 riffles.

Despite the presence of military and mobile policemen in the area, the bandits on arrival to the town, began to fire several shots indiscriminately shooting anyone they came across.

Most of those abducted were women and children, who were screaming for help but to no avail as no police or soldier came to their aid.

According to the eye witness, the attackers also strongly warned that anyone seen in the bush to make any cultivation in preparation for the year’s farming will be eliminated. “and despite all claims by the government of the state that it had taken all the necessary measures in that respect up to now we have not seen any sign of peace in this town , the problem only increases by the day, infact, it was better during the previous administration than now, because these people have never entered into the town directly since calamity resurfaced until now”, added the eyewitness.

Many of them, according to the checks by our reporter have been killed for failure to pay ransom.
