The APC Grassroots Governance Group APC G3 has named the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal and his Minister of State, Dr. Iziaq Salako as among the best in the current Federal Executive Council.
The group in a press release on Monday by the National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks Oyema, said the two ministers have keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration, while collaborating to give life to the Environment sector.
APC G3 said the Ministers have excelled putting the issues of climate change in the front burner.
“Under Lawal, the Ogoni clean up exercise has intensified, with the people in the affected communities giving kudos to the government.
“Another of the numerous achievements within the period is strengthening of the National Park Guards to rid National Parks of bandits and forestall poaching and illegal logging.
“There was also launching of the National Clean Cooking Policy to promote sustainable cooking practices, supervised production of 45 million assorted tree seedlings for afforestation programs across the country, the fostered collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Agriculture to promote climate-smart agriculture for food security.
“Also launched is the 50×2030 Initiative to minimize data gap, build national statistics systems, and promote evidence-informed agriculture in 50 low, lower-middle, and middle-income countries by 2030.
“Contract was also signed for technical assistance to restore 350,000 hectares under the Agro-climatic Resilience in semi-Arid Landscape Project.
“We also laud the Federal Ministry of Environment for the numerous international engagements where MoU’s etc was entered into to make our environment better.
“Nigeria had a very good outing at COP28 under the able leadership of Balarabe Abbas Lawal. Very soon, Nigerians will begin to see the outcome of our outing at that global meeting.
“With these and several other achievements made in the Federal Ministry of Environment, APC Grassroots Governance Group APC G3 is saying Balarabe Abbas Lawal and his team have done very well and deserved to be commended.
“We therefore name him and his Minister of State as among the shining light in this administration.
“Without making noise, the Federal Ministry of Environment is quietly implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President in the environment sector,” APC G3 added.
