The Ministry of Police Affairs has concluded plans to partner with Finland’s public and private sectors in order to strengthen police marine operations, training, reforms, and resource mobilization that will facilitate effective and efficient policing in the country.
The Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, stated this during a courtesy visit by the Finland Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms. Peena Plyvanainen, to the Ministry in Abuja.
She reiterated the determination of the Ministry in conjunction with stakeholders to harmonise all previous police reform reports in line with the presidential directives.
“We are strengthening community policing and public trust in the Nigeria Police as well as enhanced technical and operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police,” the Minister further said.
According to her, the Ministry would explore all possible ways to partner with stakeholders and Finland’s public and private sectors for support, training, and resource mobilization that will improve surveillance systems, drones, and communication technologies to enhance the Force’s capability for real-time information gathering, effective response, and e-policing.
Speaking earlier, the Finland Ambassador to Nigeria Ms. Peena Plyvanainen, applauded the Minister for the warm reception, disclosing that, that was her first visited to the Ministry of Police Affairs to explore at the possible collaboration between both countries’ public and private sectors.
