The National Assembly member representing Lavun, Edati and Mokwa federal constituencies of Niger state, Hon Joshua Audi Gana has distributed skill acquisition materials, Sawing machines, grinding machines and starter packs to over a hundred youths and over one hundred and twenty Women worth Millions of Naira.
The distribution of the empowerment materials took place at Kutigi, the headquarters of Lavun Local government area of the state.
During the presentation, Hon Gana, said that the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of the economic hardship and bring the people out of poverty.
He noted that it was also to create wealth for for the people of Lavun ,Edati and Mokwa Constituencies of the state.
” I feel the pains of my people and have decided to touch their life through people oriented programs to transform their living and develop the entire Nupe land through the collaborative efforts of leaders in the party. Boreholes were drilled spread in various wards, provision of submersible pumps, rehabilitation and purchase of transformers,while Agricultural inputs were distributed to some wards in Lavun, Edati and Mokwa local government areas”. Hon Gana said.
Hon Gana pointed out that the donation was recognition of the votes given to him last election by the good people of his constituencies “along with their prayers and support during the court litigations which makes us to be victorious.
” We have been elected by our people to represent them. To ensure that our people are empowered, we have done all within the federal government to provide some of these empowerment equipment to give the people. We are here to serve them and we are privileged within this one year to bring this back to the people”. Hon Gana stressed.
He also used the opportunity of the occasion to appreciate the elders of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, who’s advice he said endeared her to the party.
” Anything I do is in consultation with my good party elders here,as they were involved in raising me and they thought me m how to succeed in politics at both federal, State and local government levels through their counselling”. He said.
According to the lawmaker the sum of 10 million Naira is also set aside as part of health care interventions on surgeries,Drugs, payment of hospital bills and enrolment in health care institutions,as well as employment of youth in various federal Parastatals.
Also cash transfers and financial support were given as part of humanitarian interventions to the people of the constituents along with religious bodies.
Speaking at the occasion,the state Chairman of People’s Democratic party (PDP) Mr Tanko Beji,said that the PDP is the only political party that has never failed in it’s responsibilities to the electorates,and commended the courage of Joshua for redeeming the image of PDP.
He urged other lawmakers to emulate Hon Gana and relate more with the electorates.
He cautioned against unhealthy rivalries that prevent dividends of democracy from getting to the people.
Some of the youth beneficiaries appreciated Hon Gana for the kind gesture saying it will improve their finances.
For the women beneficiaries, the equipment will alleviate poverty from their families, help them to assist their husband in taking care of their homes as well as teach younger women how to be financially independent.
The ceremony was graced by the party stalwarts in the state among who are the former SSG,Alh Saidu Ndako Kpaki,former speaker state house of assembly,Hon Musa-mali,and former commissioners.
