A Stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Zamfara state, Alhaji Umar Dan Saidu, has accused Governor Dauda Lawal of abandoning his subjects while they grapple with the twin evils of insecurity and welfare.
Alhaji Dan Saidu who spoke to The Authority in Gusau, capital of the state explained that of all the governors who governed the state, Dauda has proved to the world that he is incompetent to administer the state going by what he has been exhibiting in the last 15 months.
According to the stalwart, no responsible leader will run away from his people especially at the time of crisis, hunger and insecurity, the calamities that have bedeviled the state for many years and which he (Dauda) promised to address if he was opportuned to rule.
“Look at what this man did now. He deliberately left the state just 24 hours to the commencement of the national protest and even before his leaving, He did not leave anything for the people, infact, not everybody knew of his departure, it was about 72 hours after he left that the people began to know what happened because it was not made public that the governor was leaving as has been the tradition; he added.
He also narrated that it has not come to his knowledge at any moment that from the day governor Dauda took over the mantle of the leadership of the state people have benefitted from his government despite a number of different relief materials from the federal government meant to cushion the hardship being encountered by the people he governs, adding that, “we have been warning people against casting their votes for Dauda because even before he joined the political train. In Zamfara state today, none indigenes are the senior citizens as the fate of the people are already in their hands, while the rights of the bonafide members have been denied to them.”
Commenting further, particularly in the area of security, the stalwart explained that as far as he is concerned, Dauda has not and is not making any effort in that regard,” infact the calamity has even risen up by100 times than before he came and whether we like it or not, the two previous governors were much better than him. Even if you hate Yari or Matawalle you cannot condemn them when it comes to the issue of security because they individually played a vital role covertly or overtly and this is the reality”.
Speaking on the area of welfare, Alhaji Umar maintained that there is no way the present governor will give welfare a priority because to him welfare is out of governance and an extravagance as he was alleged quoted to have said sometimes ago. “You must believe me that he is not out for that. This is a man who worked in a place where one could be fired because of one naira and he was there for almost three decades, in other words, there is no generosity in his blood because it is not the orientation of such system, but our prayer now is may he try to understand that there is heavy load on his shoulder and that he will be questioned in the hereafter before his creator to answer a number of questions on his stewardship while on earth”.
“And let me tell you one thing, he continued, Zamfara people entirely, would have died of hunger and poverty without Abdulaziz Yari, the former governor. This man, about five years today after he left office, but still remained the breadwinner of the people irrespective of political difference and if you are doubting, go all walks of life, including the members of the ruling PDP would be seen running helter skelter to get what to eat from him despite the presence of government.”
