The Greater Igbo Forum Worldwide has felicitated with Abia born Dr Sam Anya on his appointment as the Commissioner for Special Duties in Rivers State.
President of the Forum, Lady Lois Jonathan, in a statement in Abuja, described the appointment as well deserved.
She described Dr Anya as an illustrious son of Abia State, with a track record of excellence in the various mandates he had handled in his distinguished career.
Jonathan also lauded the Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the oil rich state for the appointment, saying it showed commitment to ensuring merit.
She said recognizing qualities of the Ohafia born icon to contribute to the development of Rivers State without sectional bias was exemplary.
She said Dr. Anya, who previously served as Special Adviser on Non-Indigenes to the Governor, was lauded in his former role for fostering inclusion across the state.
The engineer cum consultant for local and international oil and gas consortiums has deployed his wealth to serve the needy and humanity, using his foundation, the Akaepkuchionwa Movement.
The Forum urged the new commissioner to keep up the good work and justify the confidence reposed in him by the government and people of Rivers States.
Governor Fubara on Wednesday, August 14, swore in Dr. Anya and four others as commissioners in Port Harcourt, in an effort to strengthen the top political and administrative hierarchy of the state for utmost service delivery to residents.
