Nigeria’s Presidential Jets: Simon Ekpa Hints on possibility of more asset seizure

Amid the controversy surrounding the order by a French court, granting a Chinese firm the license to seize three presidential jets belonging to the Nigerian federal government, the Prime Minister of Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, Simon Ekpa has hinted at the possibility of the United States Government seize more Nigerian assets.

Recalls that a Chinese company, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited was recently given an order to seize a Dassault Falcon 7X, an Airbus A330-243 and a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ belonging to the FG of Nigeria.

Zhongshan, the company whose export processing zone management contract was revoked by the Ogun State Government in 2016, had sought the intervention of the French court in his contractual dispute with the state government.

In its ruling, the court ordered the seizure of the three jets belonging to the FG, having been a respondent in the matter.

Reacting, Ekpa in a post on his X microblogging account on Friday said that there are possibilities that the United States may seize more Nigerian assets.

Ekpa said he has “personally spoken with U.S. officials regarding the subject of seizing President Tinubu’s assets, and that of corrupt Nigerian officials”.

According to him, if President Bola Tinubu and his government fail to stop asking the Finnish government to extradite him to Nigeria, he will “consult with our ”friends” in Washington, DC about having more of Mr. Tinubu’s assets seized, and he will be subject to further international embarrassment”.

Meanwhile, the Chinese firm said it has released one of the three presidential jets to Tinubu on Friday.
