By James Samuel, Ilorin

The Igbomina Youth Assembly (IYA), a socio-cultural organisation representing all Igbomina youths and groups in Igbominaland, have commended the present administration in the state for its development initiatives, particularly in appointing competent individuals across the zone.

In a statement by its president, Jimoh Rasheed Temitope, the group pointed the establishment of the College of Nursing Sciences at Oke – Ode, located in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, as a prime example of these efforts.

“It is well known that siting of tertiary institution is one of the major factors that do cause rapid development in the host community and we want to say that
Oke-Ode has not been an exception.

“On behalf of Oke-Ode community and the entire Igbominaland, we are grateful for this development,” he said.

The people, who also praised the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for
his disposition and passion towards the youth and development, said such has been demonstrated through policies, patronage and engagement in governance.

“We want to say the appointment of the incumbent Provost of the college, Mr. Quadri Olanrewaju Lamidi since October 2022, is a blessing to the College and
Oke-Ode community at large, considering the innovation and developmental strides the College has achieved through him since his assumption in office as the College Provost,” he said.

The people, who said the shock of loss in the bid to host the Kwara State University of Education in Igbomina was still being felt, adding that it became important for them to guide, monitor and protect the few ones they have at hand.
