“His coming here as far as we are concerned is not cheering because the deeds have already been done,” revealed Alh. Shamsu Abubakar, a business man while speaking to our correspondent in Gummi.

Shamsu stated that whatever the governor will do for them is too late, because the disaster has come and gone, adding that those who showed concern on them have already done so, including those that were not from the state.

“A number of concerned people have come here right from the day this calamity happened. They also individually made some donations to us, therefore, tell me, what is the use of the coming of the governor here, a person that was supposed to have arrived shortly after the incident”, he asked.

At the visit, the governor pledged 100 million Naira to the people, an action some of the residents criticized.
