Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has thrown his full backing behind Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the upcoming September 21 election in Edo State.
He lauded the candidate as a true representative of the people’s aspirations and vowed to leverage his connections and cultural ties with Edo to secure victory for the party.
Governor Ododo made this pledge during an APC youth rally held in Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, where he was warmly welcomed by Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Phillip Shaibu.
The governor expressed committed to mobilizing support, particularly from the youth and women in the area, for the success of Senator Okpebholo.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Ododo called on the people of Akoko-Edo to avoid any acts of violence while standing firm in defending their votes for the APC.
He assured them that Senator Okpebholo would mirror the exceptional governance of previous APC leadership in the state, particularly under former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, by focusing on the people’s welfare.
Addressing the crowd in both English and Ebira, Ododo commended the peaceful conduct of the Akoko-Edo community during the campaign, pledging that their support would be rewarded once the APC secures victory.
Governor Ododo has since arrived in Benin City ahead of the APC’s final campaign rally, where he will join other party leaders in a last push for electoral success in Edo State.
