Agbese credits transformation from radicalism to modern progressivism to Abass’ influence

The Deputy Spokesperson also said that his success in the Nigerian parliament was a sequel to the leadership and mentorship of Abbas. 

Speaking after the resumption of plenary on Sept. 24, Agbese expressed profound appreciation for Abbas, crediting him with the transformation of his approach to governance and legislative duties.

Agbese, who represents the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said with the pace Abbas was going, Nigerians would soon smile with the right laws and policies in place. 

The House, which had been on recess since July, resumed plenary on Sept. 24th amidst hope that the House would give Nigerians the true democratic dividends.

Agbese stated that his growth and contributions in the House were a direct result of the Speaker’s exceptional leadership, adding that his quality had sustained the cordial relationship so far enjoyed by the Green Chamber. 

According to him, Abbas has been a tremendous source of inspiration and guidance. He has mentored me in ways that have helped refine my legislative approach and align it with the best interest of the Nigerian people.

He said that the speaker’s leadership had been instrumental in transforming him from a radical element into a refined patriot. 

He said. “Under his guidance, I have learnt the true meaning of service to the nation.”

Agbese further described the Speaker as a visionary leader who prioritises unity and legislative productivity.

He said that Abbas Haf brought a new level of discipline, order, and cohesion to the House, which had translated into more impactful legislation and robust debates.”

“His leadership style promotes inclusivity, collaboration, and respect for diverse viewpoints, which are essential in our quest to serve Nigerians better.”

The lawmaker said that Abbas election as Speaker in June 2023 had been widely praised for his ability to navigate the complexities of the Nigerian parliament. 

This, according to him, has fostered an environment of cooperation among lawmakers from different political and ethnic backgrounds.

He said, under his watch, the House had passed significant bills and worked towards addressing pressing national issues.

As the House of Representatives resumes for the next phase of its legislative activities, Agbese vowed to continue working diligently, drawing from the Speaker’s leadership to push for policies that would benefit his constituents and Nigerians at large.

He stated that the House was willing to abide by the high standard set by Abbas, adding that the House was committed to living up to it. 

“I am particularly grateful to him for helping me channel my energy and passion into making a positive difference,” Agbese concluded. ),” he said. 

Agbese has contributed to promoting transparency, accountability, and governance reforms under the leadership of Abbas.

The Deputy Spokesperson had focused on poverty reduction and inequality, especially among marginalised communities in Benue Federal Constituency, which he represents.

Agbese’s involvement has also been instrumental in enhancing the budget process to make it more transparent and inclusive.

He has equally been centred on championing reforms that prioritised the needs of the masses and upheld public accountability.
