From Isaac Ojo

Unidentified gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the President General of Umunze community in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State, Engr. Ezekiel Iheazor.

Engr. Iheazor was reportedly kidnapped in his Lomu village in Umunze on Friday, October 4, alongside a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Nze Ikechukwu Okoli.

The PG was said to be on a visit to Okoli’s home when the kidnappers stormed and whisked two of them away amid heavy gunfire.

Sources claimed that the development has thrown the sleepy community of Umunze into panic and disarray.

A source who pleaded for anonymity said, “Our PG and Iykon were kidnapped last Nkwo day, which is our main market day, and it has been raining heavily. I heard loud gunshots but couldn’t come out due to the rain. The abduction of the two persons was later confirmed.”

The gunmen were said to have disappeared into the thin air after kidnapping the PG and the APGA chieftain and have not contacted the family members of the victims.

The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) of Anambra State Police Command, Ikenga Tochukwu(SP) has confirmed the development noting that that measures have been put in place to get more facts about the incident.
