Ebonyi state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday embarked on a special Thanksgiving service to appreciate God for His protection and guidance and for a successful press week.
The NUJ Thanksgiving which took place at Our Lady Health of the sick Chaplaincy, AE-FUTHA, Abakaliki recorded huge turnout of media practitioners across the state who came to appreciate God for His mercies and kindness.
Earlier in his Homely, the priest in charge of Our Lady Health of the sick Chaplaincy, AE-FUTHA Abakaliki, Rev. Fr. Philip Afam Uguru thanked members of the union for recognizing the importance of Thanksgiving as a Christian and also used the opportunity to enjoin Christians all over the world to embrace salvation which Christ has laid the foundation for mankind, saying that salvation is the key as it is only God can save for what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul in hellfire.
He further explained that how you acquired your wealth and how you use it matters alot, adding that Money does not solve every problem.`How you acquired your wealth and how you use it matters alot.Money does not solve every problem.It will be easier for a camel to pass through a needle than a rich man. Salvation is the key, only God can save you.May God give us the wisdom to know the shortness of our lives.What shall it profit us to gain the whole world and lost our soul in hell.
On his part,the chairman of the 2024 Press week committee,Mr.Amechi Odoh applauded all members of the council for giving them opportunity to serve in that capacity and for a successful press week.He noted that one of the essence of Democracy is to have new ideas and ways of doing things from a new leader.And again, People’s participation and support to the leader makes it possible to actualize their goals.
Responding,the Chairman of NUJ in Ebonyi state, Comrade Samson Nwafor
used the opportunity to appreciate all members for their unwavering support and success recorded during the NUJ press week.He prayed God to reward everyone who contributed in one way or the other towards the press week.And also charged members to continue to discharge their duties inline with the ethics of the profession for the growth and development of Ebonyi state.
