The Association of Six Geo-Political Zones in Nigeria has called on Jackson Ude, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, to return to Nigeria and address allegations linking him to the sponsorship of insecurity, including banditry, and unrest in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, the coalition’s Executive Director, Chukwuemeka, alleged that Ude is also under investigation by the Libyan government over gold from the Central Bank of Libya.
Chukwuemeka urged the Nigerian authorities to take steps to ensure Ude returns to face the allegations if he is confident in his innocence.
“You cannot be in another country and be (allegedly) sponsoring insecurity in Nigeria,” he remarked.
The coalition accused Ude of being a significant sponsor of instability in Northern Nigeria, stressing that his actions contribute to the region’s insecurity and undermine the efforts of millions striving for peace.
“If he truly believes his hands are clean, let him return to Nigeria and face the music. There is no place for cowardice in the fight against crime,” Chukwuemeka declared.
He further highlighted the severe impact of Ude’s alleged activities, calling them a serious threat to national security. Chukwuemeka noted that individuals like Ude exploit disorder for personal gain, endangering lives and destabilizing communities.
“It is imperative that we hold him accountable for his actions. The time for silence is over; justice must prevail,” he said.
The group called on Nigerians to stay alert and report any suspicious activities involving Ude or his associates.
“Let us stand united against those who seek to undermine our safety and sovereignty,” Chukwuemeka added.
He concluded by encouraging citizens to demand justice and accountability, asserting that the country needs leaders who serve and protect, not those who create chaos.
“In this critical moment, let us rally together and demand accountability. Nigeria deserves leaders who uplift and protect its people—not those who conspire in the shadows. The call for justice is clear: Jackson Ude must be held responsible for his alleged crimes,” Chukwuemeka said.
In a related development last year, Peter Afunanya, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communication at the Department of State Services (DSS), condemned Ude for spreading false information on Twitter about the former DSS Director-General, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
“If the federal government, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders do not take Jackson Ude seriously, it could consume the nation one day. Whoever is behind him is not bigger than the country, and he must be brought to book,” Afunanya had warned.
