Kogi First Lady congratulates newly elected council leaders, urges focus on grassroots development

The wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has extended her congratulations to the newly elected Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councillors following their victories in the recent local government elections held across the state.

The First Lady described the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates as a reflection of divine will and a demonstration of the current administration’s commitment to serving the people under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

She encouraged the newly elected officials to focus on delivering meaningful benefits to residents at the grassroots level.

A statement released by her media office on Monday quoted Mrs. Ododo as saying: “As you prepare to take on the responsibilities of your new offices, I wish you a successful tenure in office. It is my belief that your leadership across the 21 LGAs would impact lives at the grassroots and speed up development in your council areas as championed by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.”

The First Lady emphasized the importance of prioritizing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and inclusive governance at the local level.

“I have no doubt that you will work assiduously in your various local government councils to address areas of priority such as healthcare, education, women, and youth empowerment. These would go a long way in improving the livelihood of the rural populace, particularly as it affects vulnerable groups in our communities,” she added.

Mrs. Ododo also called on the new council chairmen to collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that the impact of governance is felt across rural communities.
