By Daniel Tyokua

President Bola Tinubu has earmarked the sum of ten billion naira for empowerment of youths in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike disclosed this on Monday, during the flag off ceremony of upgrading of 18 kilometres war College / Army check point and other ancillary road at Ushafa in Bwari Area Council .

He said the amount is part of Federal Capital Territory Administration’s supplementary budget.

Federal Government had in May, approved N110 billion capital for startups and early growth stage businesses for youth.

The sacked minister of Youth and Sport under Tinubu, Ms Bio-Ibrahim gave the detail at the ministerial sectoral update of the present administration in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BoI) to set up a ‘NextGen’ Bank to nurture youth entrepreneurs with loans and business support.

Wike explained that the initiative would help the youth grow and make their lives more meaningful in positive fields.

On the road project, the minister said provision of basic infrastructure in the six area councils was a fulfillment of promises that Tinubu made to Abuja residents.

He said the people had lost interest in the previous government but the Renewed Hope Agenda has been renewing their hope.

According to him, infrastructure being provided in the Federal Capital Territory is not limited to the city centre but cut across all satellite towns in the area councils.

Wike reminded the residents that the current FCT administration was also working on areas that will help the fight against insecurity, saying a security scheme will soon be launched to wage war against beggars on the streets of Abuja.

He said as a Federal Capital territory beggars will not be allowed to remain in the city.

Wike dared those that didn’t believe in the projects being executed by the administration, “we will help the youth to grow, the president has approved the sum of 10 billion to see how the youth can be empowered.

“Many people are not happy with the government and they don’t see anything good that the government is doing, but we are not bothered, we will continue to do the best for the people. I kow so many people are not happy. Those who are not happy that we are going to fight against security, nowhere in this world that there is no crime, even in America there are security challenges”.
