Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has assured that the Senate will participate fully in the burial of former Senate President Joseph Wayas.
This assurance was given when a delegation of leaders from Cross Rivers State, led by former Justice Minister, Chief Kanu Agabi, paid a courtesy visit to Akpabio to formally invite the Senate to be part of the burial.
Akpabio expressed his delight in participating in the ceremonies, describing it as “a celebration of life.” He informed his guests that the Senate plans to hold a valedictory session for Dr. Wayas on November 28, 2024, and will also attend the Night of Tributes in Calabar.
The Senate President’s assurance is a testament to the respect and admiration for Dr. Wayas’ contributions to the country. The burial ceremony is expected to be a dignified celebration of his life and legacy.
Dr. Joseph Wayas was a former President of the Senate, and his burial is scheduled to take place on November 30, 2024. The Senate’s participation in the ceremony is a demonstration of their commitment to honoring the memory of their former colleague.
